Installing Front Rotors
Can anyone tell me FOR SURE what size are the two bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the backing plate?
I am handicapped and can not crawl under there to look for myself. A friend is going to help me swap in new rotors and I'm going to buy a socket to fit that nut. He says it 11/16 but I'm almost positive its larger than that in fact I'm almost positive its 19mm; that's what I remember from when I swapped in new rotors ten years ago

Well, thanks for nothing. I finally found out AutoZone sells the bolts in question and I was able to hold one in my hand and fit a socket on it. They are 18mm. Again, thanks for nothing.

Autozone replacements tend to have smaller head sizes so you know. When I replaced the roters in my old ranger, My Autozone kits included bolts with smaller heads then the originals. Probably to save a a few cents worth of metal.
Might want to consider that before you jump on people.

You are absolutely right. My bad. But I would have liked to have had at least more than one response. Only one response with no validation wasn't much help. Every where I looked I found 18mm; possibly they vary.

Automotive manufacturing is not all that precise. When it gets down to nuts and bolts they generally have a range of usable hardware that can be used and they go with the lowest bidder or the bidder with the most brownie points or whatever, but if the supplier suddenly goes under, or there is a shortage, Venus Aligns with mars causing the receiving department to misplace something they will do the job with what they can find that is still in spec. So from time to time you will get different sized bolt heads or slightly differnt colored plastic do dads.
aftermarket replacement parts are all built down to the lowest price so things like that waiver even more.
The most notorious cars for part wavering was probably the British. You can have two identical 60's era Healeys, Morgans, MG's or whatever and even though they may have been built right next to each other on the same day they share less then 40% identical internal parts. They just grabbed the next thing in the bin and went and built a car. You could find different sized bolt heads not only on differnt cars but on the same car on the same part. I can point you to a morgan right now that has three different sized bolts holding on the crabs and there all original to the car.
