2005 Fx4 Possible fuel pump goin out...how do i tell?
I just moved to hawaii and its sunday so i cant find anyone to help me out. i have a 2005 Fx4 that is runnin rough. it is idl rough when i start it and when i start to drive i it feels like its about to die. i am getting no power when i accelerate, but while i was driving this morning i put the peddle to the floor and when the truck finally took off it ran perfectly fine. after my wife and i went to breakfast i turned my truck on and it started all over again but this time my check engine light came on. when i called a buddy he said it could be my fuel pump starting to go out but i am no expert. any suggestions?

i spoke to a mechanic today that told me that newer model fords will restrict that fuel flow if there is a problem with them. so you cant pin point it to just the fuel line, filter or pump. but like i said im new to hawaii so i dont know for a fact if hes takin me on the run around to get money out of me or what. im still learnin. i guess ill find out at the dealership tomorrow...

Hey T3 I'm having the same problem, I changed my fuel filter and still had the same problem my truck also had issues starting and it actually locked up once when I was starting it and smoked the starter so now my trucks in the shop getting a diagnostic done I'll let you know what they find.
I also had codes pulled and there were multiple misfires and lean codes on both banks. I have a 06 Fx4 with 59k miles.

So apparently Fords 2004-2005 and even early models from 2006 5.4s had injectors that were pieces of ****. My injectors were bad causing tons of missfires, lean codes, and O2 sensor codes.
Mine was obviously a early model so cross your fingers my rods aren't bent and I caught the problem early enough to just have to change injectors. Change your injectors if you havn't done so.
Good luck and keep us posted
