Good way to smoke a 6k$ engine.... It is also variable valve timing on all four cranks. Also being overhead cam... I would suggest you read your owners manual. The vvt runs off oil pressure and duh changing the viscosity will afecct performance....also Ford hasn't used 5w30 in its overhead cam v8 since 2002.. there is a tsb on that
FYI
They have 4 cams, not four cranks,
overhead cam has not bearing on oil choice, clearance in bearings and journals does
changing to 5w30 is not a "Good way to smoke a 6k$ engine (BTW the $ goes before the numeral, not after, like this $6k) while it may cause some issues under specific circumstances it will not damage the engine itself.

Ford has even switched its 6.2 v8 back to 5w30 as its recommend go to oil from 5w20 likenthey were.
I bet we see the 5.0 switched in the future as well.
5w20 and 5w30 are the same thickness untill they get really hot and only then is the 5w30 just not thin out as badly as 5w20.
I have only ran 5w30 in all my 5.0 and 6.2 ford V8 engines and zero issues.
I and my employees work my trucks and cars hard so i likenthe extra protection in extreme heat the 5w30 offers.

How you think the ford V8 5.0 has four cranks , and those cranks have valves, and whatever other gibberish you believe in, is some wild make believe stuff.
Maybe you just smoked $6,000 of Marijuana?
