[quote=mikeelec75;608617]Used the bolts technique to get my front rotors off today, no fuss no frustration. This is definitely the way to go. Then cleaned & sanded the faces and used some anti-seize upon reassembly.[/quote
what did you use to sand them?

I used sandpaper cloth (emory cloth), very fine grit. Just sanded the rusty sections on the hubs until the shiny surface underneath was visible. It took a little bit (15-20 min per wheel) but I feel better seating my new rotors against a nice clean flat surface.

Just to clarify, the rust is all from the rotor, the hubs were discolored but the surface was intact under the rust.

Always nice to have it seated cleanly.

Make sure you tighten your axle nut being that you said you loosened it for whatever reason. Loosening it and then banging on the rotor is asking for your wheel bearing to get damaged.

im no mechanic but i usually use a air hammer. hit it between the lugs and work ur way all around the rotor till it falls off. the vibration breaks the rust loose with out tearing stuff up

Heat the base of the rotor with a torch if you have one. If not one of the little hand held propane torches will work just will take longer. Go all the way around the base giving it a few love taps as you heat it. this will not harm the rotor. When you put it back on rub some grease or anti-sieze around the bore of the rotor and the hub.
