Default I cant get my rotors off.

Changed all the brakes the other night but i need to resurface the front rotors, its pulsing pretty bad. But i can not get the rotor off. I think it might just be rusted frozen on there but I took off the caliper and that other contraption dont know what its called. I loosen the big ole nut then started banging at the rotor with a mallet and it would not budge out. How do i get this thing off.

I used a 16oz ball hammer and gave it a few whacks. The left side came off just fine on mine but the right side hung up.

Whack whack, turn... whack whack, turn.... it'll get ya there.

I used a rosebud to heat it but obviously wouldn't do that unless you're installing new rotors.

take a 2x4 and crawl under the rear end and hit it with a hammer, using the 2x4 to buffer it a little....it will come off...work your way around the rotor from the inside. Might bust up the 2x4 a bit but it worked for me.

Use two bolts with nuts through the caliper mounting holes to push on the rotor. There's a video on youtube:

Haven't tried it but looks like a good idea.

This technique, although w/ a bigger hammer (5lb hand sledge) works for me everytime. I just tap though, no need to whack w/ a 5lb sledge (thats what she said).

You can pretty much get anything off with this method.

Used the bolts technique to get my front rotors off today, no fuss no frustration. This is definitely the way to go. Then cleaned & sanded the faces and used some anti-seize upon reassembly.
