2005 5.4 l engine , what kind of tool do i need ? Getting geared up to change timing set , chains, guides, phasors . . I am also looking at removing fan , haven't done either on this engine .

Your local Auto Zone or other box stores will usually rent the puller for the balancer. The fan clutch is a bit more difficult. Almost exclusively the fan clutch has left handed threads. You'll need a strap wrench to hold the clutch and a large Crescent wrench to break the nut loose. The threads are very fine and will take a bit to unscrew them. Ask your parts store to show you a fan clutch before your try this so you'll know what to look for when you remove it. Good luck

I don't know about the 05, but my 97 4.6 fan clutch was standard righty tighty, lefty loosey.
