How the heck do I change oil/filter on EcoBoost?
#41
One the other hand, if anything ever blows, grab an oil sample, that should be all that's required to refute any oil change "frequency" issues. As for using a non motocraft filter? That is a can of worms, right down to the issue of what if you get a defective filter.
Just sayin.....

My ford buddy isn't 100% sure for all engines but yes, most engines should have some kind of break in oil, the manual won't tell you not to change it befor hand, but to change it at the recommended milage(7500 miles for my 5.4)
Sorry this got off subject.
I asked him and he has an eco boost in his shop he will look at in morning. Right now all he said was that maybe it's an added protector plate for the turbo lines, hopefully I'll hear from him Mon. regarding oil drain access.

and
B) The reason you would change your oil within a couple hundred miles is to get any debris out of the engine that is captured in the filter and pan (if there is a magnetic drain plug in it)

How many quarts of oil does this engine take?
I am also replacing the oil in mine with full synthetic shortly after 1,000 miles. I don't trust any electronic widget to tell me what's in the oil. It's not like they take a proper sample.
