How the heck do I change oil/filter on EcoBoost?

Take it to a Ford Shop, Watch how they do it... If you hit it off good with the tech then they might show you more about your truck while its up on the lift.

They do not have a break in oil in them when they are new, the only thing extra is assembly lubricant....regular Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend oil is factory fill. If someone changed the oil early and the engine made noise, it was probably a bad anti drain back valve in the new oil filter.

I changed my oil at 2500 miles and will again at 5k. Then swap to full synthetic oil after the break in metal has been flushed out

I work at a Ford dealership in the parts dept.

Precisely my reasoning. Has anyone figured out how to get at this through the "skid plates" or do I just need to remove them?

Might want to check into that.
It won't void the warranty as long as the oil being used meets Ford standards. Our shop went through that about a month ago with a Super Duty that was having oil pressure issues. The oil was changed by the customer using aftermarket oil and filter but he had a receipt for the oil and filter that he bought and it met Ford standards so all the labor and parts was covered under warranty.

I believe your truck has a "Smart Oil Minder" in the message center. This basically means that there is no certain interval you're supposed to change your oil. The computer will calculate driving habits to decide when it needs to be changed which will then display a message "Chang engine oil soon" or it will even give you a percentage on how long of an oil life you have left. Just change the oil when the truck tells you to, plus Ford recommends changing it at 5k minimum anymore instead of 3k.

Yikes...a little question about how to change the oil and everyone has to give their $.02

For the oil filter go to the driver side front fiber panel there is 4 or 5 white quarter twist fasteners twist them and you will then have access to the filter you will see the black oil slide that ford built for the oil to drain from filter removal.

Now for the pan go to the passenger side right behind the front tire and you will again see quarter turn twist fasteners on the rear fiber panels remove them and you will have access to the drain plug.

The EB has Motorcraft 5W-30 Synthetic Blend as factory fill there is no special break in oil. All EB's will come with the original smaller filter this filter does not need to be changed out before the first oil change.

Ford does not call for any special early first oil change unless you meet one of the "special" driving conditions as shown in your owners manual.
