Ok so here's the deal
I recently bought an 87 300-6 efi F-150
love this truck
and then it caught fire
AHHHHH!!!
Fortunately it hapened at a gas station so fire extinguishers were handy
dont know if i will ever drive it again without one in the cab though

is there a common reason for fires with these engines?
I have an exhaust leak under the hood and I think that caught the layer of oil on my block on fire
It started near the starter
I dont think it was electrical because i had long ago started the engine

The damage:
1 burnt fuel injector
1 destroyed pcv valve and hose
1 burnt fuel injector wiring harness
1 destroyed fuel line
Need to rebuild exhaust

The options:
Repair efi
or
convert to carb

Well I'm a carb guy so thats probably what im gonna do
I found a man on craigslist selling the same engine as I have thats carbuerated for $150
He said he would be willing to sell me just the carb and intake but he didnt say how much
What would be a fair price?

So my big question is how do i do this?
I know it's not as simple as putting the intake and carb and driving away

I know i need to do something with the fuel pressure
I have heard i can use my efi fuel pump and install a regulator is this true?
If not can i simply disconnect the electricity from the efi pump and install a carb fuel pump or do I need to remove the efi pump?

has anyone here ever done this?
I have never converted and engine from efi to carb so consider me a newbie

Any input now matter how much or little would be greatly appreciated

Your engine doesn't have a spot for a mechanical fuel pump, so you would need to use an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. You would also need to change the ignition system as the one you have is controlled by the computer. I don't recommend downgrading to carbureted as fuel injected will run much better than a carb, plus it won't be emissions legal. Also fuel injection is easier to fix because you have the computer codes to help point you in the right direction. The wiring harness is easy to swap, I'd go to the junkyard and get a replacement. You can get just the engine harness, which stops just behind the engine with a large plug, or you can get it all the way to the firewall.
