hey guys can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to change oil and coolant in my 02 4.6? if there is a website with diagrams or pictures where the plugs are that would help immensely. im going to do it thursday so i need to get my info ready. thanks!

Would like to help out with the website and even hands on knowledge of the 4.6. Can't provide either. My 02 4.2 has a plug bottom of pan for the oil. 13mm wrench. The radiator has a drain **** to empty all the coolant. If your vehicle has no drain **** then remove the lower hose from the radiator all will leak out. Word of advice, the oil change is straight forward, refilling the cooling system is a challenge. At least my 4.2 is. The reservoir is lower than the top of the radiator and thus an air gap exists. Letting the engine idle will burp the air out but does take time. I loosened and wiggled the top hose to burp the air out. Its messy but effective. Others will chime in, be patient.

oil change is pretty simple!!
step 1- let vehicle cool down
step 2- get a oil pan and drain the oil from the oil pan under your truck by taking out the drain pan bolt/plug
step 3- after oil is completely drained put the plug back in the pan and nex find your oil filter remove old oil filter either by hand or with a filter wrench make sure to place oil pan under the general area aswell cos there will be oil in there aswell not alot but enough to make a mess lol
step 4- i like to put a little fresh oil in the new filter and rub alitlle oil on the o ring before you put it back on then i usually put the new filter back on as tight as i can by hand
step 5- get a funel and fill put the required number of qrts of oil in the truck once youve done all that check the dipstick if it is all good start the truck and let it idle for afew then check the oil again if all is good you are done!!

coolant you need to drain the radiator either threw the drain plug or the bottom hose then fill the radiator up and let run til all the air burps out once topped off and all air is burped out you are all good!!

I thought I needed to flush the coolant, do I? And which hose is it?

Unless the coolant really looks like gunk, a flush isn't necessary. Thats assuming you haven't used any radiator magic additives. Have absolutely no use for them, miracles in a can don't work!

haha no i havent used any of that sh-poopy, which hose do i unclamp? how much of each fluid should i expect? can anyone put up a picture of this hose with a finger on it so i dont wind up initiating the self destruct sequence

If there is no drain valve then take off the lower radiator hose at the radiator. Seems on my 02, I had to take off a cover shield to gain access from underneath. Sounds like bad advice, access is the key to repairs on these vehicles. Taking off a piece of plastic is well worth it. Expect 3-4 gallons of coolant. Buy concentrated coolant, not the pre-mix. Add your free water to the concentrate at 50/50 mixture. Thats 1 gallon water to 1 gallon concentrate. Any left over, store in container marked 50/50 for any topping off in the furture. Your friends will be impressed with your shop supplies.
