Help needed... 2004 F150 FX4 5.4L - Codes P0174 & P0305
Needing a little help with my 2004 F150 FX4 5.4L w/150K miles. About two weeks ago my CEL came on and I pulled the codes P0174 & P0305. 0174 is for fuel too lean and 0305 is for #5 misfire. The engine tends to run rough and has issues with steep inclines. The weird thing is that these problems are not always present. I drove the truck a couple times after the CEL first displayed and the light was off and I had no issues. Yesterday the light came back on flashing and I could feel the engine lose power. I cleaned the MAF sensor and looked for any loose vacuum hoses but no changes. Any other suggestions?

First thing is to fix the misfire on cylinder 5. Might need to change all the plugs if it's been a while.

Thanks. It actually turned out to be a pretty easy fix. I checked the spark plug on the # 5 and it had worked its way loose. It was actually way too loose. I was able to remove the plug completely by hand. As you would imagine it was beat up pretty bad. I replaced the spark plug with another Motorcraft OEM and everything is running smooth. All codes are gone.
