Default heater tube question

I need to replace the heater tube that sits in the valley under the intake. It is dripping from a break in one of the brackets. The one currently on the truck has a large hose connected to the end of it and then a smaller port with a small hose. My question is the new part to replace doesn't have the small port on it. Do I need that and what is it used for?

If I missed it I apologize. What year truck and what motor do you have? Many external motor parts are specific to your truck.
