Engine Ticking Sound
Maybe some one could shed a little light on my issue.
Truck - 2005 Ford F150 King Ranch 5.4L, 4x4
My truck has this ticking/clicking sound coming from the engine compartment. It does it when I am idling. It doesn't seem to be lacking power or getup and go. No oil burning smell. Starts up fine doesn't die while idling. Any advice would be so very helpful. Hope it isn't a major problem that I can't fix. Thanks in advance for the help.

Make sure your intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is plugged in. The engine will tick if you accidentally left it unplugged while working on the intake (trust me, I know heh).

Head over to the 04-08 section of the forum. There are more threads about these 5.4's making noise than I could shake a stick at! Start with this one:

Pick one of the list, do a search on the forum, or google, see if it applies to you. Lots of people can help you figure it out too.

Thanks for the link. I will start troubleshooting my truck. Just has me concerned cause I don't want it to turn into something major or even ruin my engine.

It is on the bottom of the big plastic tube that contains the air filter. Google it, it's a real simple fix if it has come undone. It definitely causes a light ticking sound. What you can do if it IS plugged in, is unplug it, and see if you notice any difference--and if not, you can try replacing it.
