Mine ticks all the time. I'm pretty sure its a lifter...

my 2000 with a 4.6 was doing this. it went on for about 3 months then, boom a spark plug blew out. Turned out it was working its way out. Just a thought.

For Christmas I got a free engine tune-up coming. I'll tell ya exactly what is clicking in my truck...
