Default Engine Knockin..

Good afternoon all,

I have a 2005 5.4l f150 lariat supercab, which is my first truck, which I've been fixing up as problems arise. Its got 160, 000+ miles on it, and the latest issue that's not an easy answer for my basic-not-a-real mechanic mind is the engine starts to knock completely randomly at low rpms, always when slowing down from going faster. When it happens the engine will be rocking back and forth 'knocking' and the whole truck will shudder, sometimes itll even die and i have to restart the truck. Usually if I rev the engine by gassing it it'll stop knocking and idle normally. I'm completely confused on what to do and where to go on this. Any help will definitely be thanked.

You may have a plugged CAT. It builds up exhaust gas fumes and stumbles the motor. The O2 sensors should give you a code but not always. The other place to look is the fuel injectors. Try running a can of SeaFoam through it (in the gas ). They may be just dribbling excess fuel and not shutting off during deceleration. Good luck

I am new here but i am hoping that someone can help me. I have a 2012 f150 EB FX4 with 20k and i started hearing a knock and it just got louder. I took it to the dealership and they checked the oil and it was over full (good thing that I did all my oil changes with them.) well a week later the only thing I know is that they have been going back and forth with the tech line, I did find out that #4 cyl is scored up. They are still waiting for tech to decide what the next step is?

Well I just received a call from the dealership; know they want them to pull the heads off. all this time and they still can’t make up their mind on what to do. It seems to me that they are going to change it but what are they going to change- a short or long block. the only thing that bothers me is a week and a half now and we still know what to do. (FRUSTRATING)

well I was just told that the skirts on the bottom of a piston was shattered into pieces, and we are still waiting on tech support to say short or long block replacement? 2 weeks now and still waiting. I wish I had a say in this because I was told that this is the first time tearing one of these EB apart let alone putting one back together????

I did call and talked to the Regional Manager and was told that the only thing they were going to do is a short block. I told them that I did not want to be the one to practice with and was told that it is a certified person to work on it and it did not mater at all what i think or want I want. I told her that they had nobody that has worked on this and she just kept on that he is certified. but the mechanic said to me he had never done the EB motor. I guess I will have to get rid of my truck now because I will never trust this motor to take me on a trip!!!! this is the worst feeling I love my FX4 with the FX appearance package ????

I really wanted to get the long block but was flat told no, either deal with the short block or pay the difference but ford would only do the short block. I wanted them to send the heads off to at least check them out because of all the metal in the oil.

anyone know what else I can do????

I finally got my resolution, they only are going to put a short block in it so I got rid of the truck. I pleaded with them to put in a long block and was flat told no. I just would never feel good towing my street rod with the engine from someone that has never worked on an EB motor.
