Default egr tube connector installation question

Hey I've seen pictures of tape on threads but can't find any info online about this.. Is there a tape or anti-seize that I am supposed to use to re-install a new egr tube connector?

I am still working on the p0401 code... been driving it awhile and it just now got over 40 degrees and light is back on. I'll probably have every component in the egr replaced when all is done

also have seen that people install it and say it leaks so any tips appreciated

The tape you're talking about is called Teflon Tape.

What year truck and engine size? The 5.4L 2V is notorious for the EGR passages in the intake elbow to get clogged with carbon resulting in the P0401 dtc.

No, I'm talking about the EGR passages in the intake elbow. With the engine running remove the green vacuum line at the EGR valve and apply vacuum to it (you can disconnect the fuel pressure regulator (red vacuum line) and use it to to apply vacuum to the EGR valve. If the engine does not lean out and stumble, then the EGR ports are plugged). The elbow is bolted to intake with (4) 8 mm bolts (EGR valve is bolted to it). Remove the elbow from the vehicle and remove the EGR valve from it. I usually take a drill bit with my cordless drill and clean out the passages (makes quick work) and then soak the passages with carb cleaner. Also, a good time to go ahead and clean throttle body. Also, the intake and EGR gaskets are reusable.
