Default Thank you for the advice...

I took your advice, and by myself, I located the assembly, found what was broken, and I glued it back together, and rehooked the cable, and readjusted it so it reflects the correct gear, and it works!
This is on my, new to me, 2002 F150.
Thank you for the help!

Ford does not sale that part, you will need to buy the whole shift indicator assembly about $50 but you will need to remove dash and reinstall new shift indicator assembly. Dealer charges about $200. I fixed mine, went to junk yard, a lot of Ford vehicles use this part. I got only the white plastic piece, from a E150 van, got it for free. Installation: use pliers to remove string from gear lever, remove screw that holds white plastic piece, put thumb wheel and string inside new white plastic piece, install screw and attach string to gear lever. 5-10 minutes. some guys have been able to fix it using zip ties, or making their own device that holds thumb wheel in place.
