Default Code Readers

I know this is a old topic but I wish to enrich the economy with the purchase of a code reader. My truck is, of course, an OBD-1 for utility I want one that will do OBD-II as well. I am looking at this one.... http://www.toolsource.com/canobd21-s...-p-101160.html

Is this a good one, or can any of you suggest one that will go a better job for about the same price, I don't want to enrich the economy too much

Oh one more thing what is this I am reading in some of the descriptons of these readers: "This reader will not activate the Airbags, fire injectors, change transmission shift points, " etc. Is this something to worry about with code readers?

I'm curious...if you're going to spend that much, why not just spend a little more for the xcal2 or 3? They read the codes don't they?

The problem is My truck is an OBD I, the last year for this standard, and these flash devices are for OBD-II.
