Exclamation Clutch pedal goes soft

I have a 2006 f150 2 wheel drive 4.2L v6 with a manual transmission and here lately my clutch fluid resevoir has to be refilled everyday and thus the clutch pedal goes soft. I think it may be the slave cylinder inside the tranny. my truck is at 72xxx miles and may need to be replaced. My question is it worth me doing the work to tear the tranny out and replacing it myself or having a shop take a look at the problem? Any thoughts comments or concerns would be appreciated thanks!!! -Brick

You are correct in assuming the slave cylinder is bad. Unfortunately you have to pull the trans to replace it. With only 72 K miles you still should put a new disc in while it's out since it may have fluid damage anyway. Also I would change the master clutch cylinder as well and be sure to BENCH BLEED the hydraulic line before you reinstall it.

I know it’s an old thread, but,

What did you do?

I have similar truck. Had to change whole clutch pack and did master while at it. Wish I could put in an HD clutch though.
