Brake pad and shoes
It looks like it is time for brake pads and perhaps shoes on my F150.
what I need some input on is the type to install. In the past I just installed what the they gave me at NAPA. With this truck I would like to go somewhat better. I am looking at the various compounds used, metallic, semi-metallic, ceramic, etc. what kind advice do you have for me. I see pads can cost over a hundred bucks a set. The cost doesn't effect me much but I don't want to put on more brake pad then I really need.

Trans would like to give good input, but again I'm OEM so hope you find the answers you're after. Am chicken to reinvent the wheel, if it works than use it. If it ain't broke than don't fix it.

Ceramics are good because they don't get the rims all dirty with brake dust. I'm not sure how they affect the rotor, but metallics eat up rotors. I use semi metallics and they eat up my rotors, but I imagine not as bad as the metallics do. I pull a trailer everyday and only get the burning smell when I do to many panic stops in a row.
