Default Bad catalytic converter or plugs?

This is my first f150 of this generation (2006 5.4 xlt) so I'm not quite sure of how much get up and go these things have but ever since I got it a year ago it's always seemed sluggish. Yes I've felt it misfire twice when I got on it and once the engine light was flashing then turned off for about a minute. Anyone have any suggestion wether it could be a bad catalytic converter or old Plugs or what? I've noticed whenever I get on the gas at all when my back sliding window is open it makes a bit of a shhhhhh noise from back.

Any help would be appreciated thanks

If you would have pulled the codes after the CEL flashed you'd know for sure, but it sounds like a misfire. New plugs and check the COPs. You have a famous 3V 5.4L so follow the steps for plug removal.

Doesn't sound like plugged cat that wouldnt cause a miss fire and it would progressively get worse to the point of just barely chugging along
