Default Auto transmission upshifting slowley

1994 F-150: I pulled my battery cable off to remove corrision buildup and since putting the cable back on, my truck is slow to upshift. I have to accelerate to 35+ mph before it will shift into 2nd. Then to 65+ mph to get into third. Turning the overdrive on or off does not make a difference. The check engine light comes on and off at random also. Prior to this the tranny shifted with a hard thump into drive from park. Need help. Could this be electronic? That's what it sounds like but I'm lost on the sensors.

First, suggest to get the codes pulled to see if they give any indication. Sounds like the tranny has lost its speed input, since this occured all at once.

Post Ford F-150 upshifting slowly

I had the codes diagnosed on my transmission. Replaced the Throttle Position Control and the Speed Sensor. Drives and shifts great now.
Thanks for the input.

where is the speed sensor located?
What does it look like?
What does it cost to replace?
Is there a way I could have unplugged mine on the top of my engine? My 99 shift is delayed, have to let off gas to make her shift

Default having the same problem

Hey, my first post on the site. I just started having trouble with my truck's transmission today.

I have a 1989 F150 Auto w/ OD. I checked the fluids after I drove it to work and they are fine. Today the shifting started to drag on past the normal point. My OD never kicked in. The accelerator was giving me a lot of resistance.
