I have 1996 straight six reg cab it's a rough ride on the logging roads when going over anything bumpy . Would rear shocks help? How are they installed

The key to know if the shocks are bad is if the truck continues to bounce after hitting a rut in the road. You can test this by standing on the bumper in the driveway, jumping hard a few times and jumping off. If the truck moves up and down several times the shocks are bad. I would put a set of Monroe gas magnums front and rear if they are bad.
If not, try putting some weight in the bed, like bags of sand weighing 200 to 300 pounds. The back of the truck is light compared to the front.
Installing shocks is fairly easy, just 2 bolts per shock BUT if the top of the shock is a stem mount it can be very difficult to remove the upper nut. WD40 all the bolt a few hours before you start. The truck can sit on the tires in park while doing this work. Good luck.
