Default 92 F150 won't turn over or anything

I just bought a 92 F150, 180k about 2 weeks ago. the previous owner said it has a weak fuel pump and some of the gauges and window switches don't work. its not reg. so I start it everyday and the other day when it was running I turned on the AC and it completely shut off. now it wont do anything lights, radio or make any noise when I turn key. I dont know where to begin and would like some ideas so if I need a mechanic I dont get reamed.
thanks ahead

Welcome to the site!

Would first make sure the battery connections are clean and that the large cable connections are clean and tight. Don't forget to check the ground cables! Look for any signs of corrosion where the cable insulation meets the connectors.

Next thought would be to check the battery - is it showing good voltage at the posts - like 12.5-13.2 or so? A load test may not be out of the question.

Perhaps inspect the fuse block to see if any fuses have popped.

I believe that you may have a "fuseable Link" red and green wires that are running from the "posative" battery connector over to the starter solenoid.

Alternator maybe? My alternator finally went out when I first was handed it down by my dad... had the same exact experience you described.
