Default 4L won't engage... any suggestions??

Hi everyone,

I'm brand new to the site and so far I find it's the greatest things since sliced bread.

I have a problem engaging my 4L, let me break it down.

I have a 2006 F150- At first I got a rattling noise whenever I depressed the gas but when I engaged 4H the noise went away. I found a thread on this site suggesting that the problem exists in my IWE system due to a vacuum leak. So what I did was I replaced the 2 front end actuators, vacuum tube and the IWE solenoid and TADA! The rattling went away! Perfect. However, my 4L will not work!

Lights on the dash won't light up and though i give it time to kick in, it just won't register.

Any suggestions? Anything will be appreciated!

Cheers and thanks for having me everyone!

Dunno if it's the same but my 04 Explorer would not go into 4L unless I put it into neutral.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I should clarify that I understand I need to be in neutral to shift into 4L so that isn't the issue.

But the transfer case motor might be the it since yes, I can shift into 4H just not 4L.

Ill check that out! Thanks!
