I have a 98 f-150 with a 4.6.....the motor was install 3yrs ago. It ran fine up until about 2wks ago then it started making a taping sound. The noise is coming from the right side so I thought I would remove the valve cover and check the rocker arms. I found one rocker arm to be very loose (it basically fell out when i touched it). I bought a new rocker arm and a valve and put them in. I started the truck up and found the tap is still there.
The check engine light is not on and the truck did not lose any power at all.
I also replaced all the plugs and changed the oil. If anyone has had this problem please let me know what you did to fix it.
