They warranteed it the first time at 11K miles by turning the rotors. Then it started again at 20K. I dealt with it until 30K and wanted a solution that would last so that's why I sprung for new stuff. Braking is much better than with the factory stuff It came with.

So technically they should warrantee mine at 14k cause I know its wear and tear but that's pushing it for rotors. My pads aren't even half way gone.

Typically rotors fall under wear and tear because they are a wear item. Therefore they would only warranty until 12K. But you never know until you talk to your dealer.

Rotors are 3yr/36k. Mine had the same problem right off the lot. I talked to the tech who turned them. He said he is seeing it a lot with newer cars because they sit on the lot for so long. Next time you drive by a dealership, just take a mental pic of all the cars and tricks sitting out there. My truck was built 2/13 and delivered at the end of feb to Miami. It sat until september '13 when i bought it.

2012 platinum ecoboost. Rotors started showing a small vibration at 45,000 and had them turned at the dealer at 51,000 for $120. For this mileage I feel fortunate.

I replaced a 2010 with a used 2013 with 16,000 miles on it. The 2010 did fine, brakes at 47,000( normal). As soon as I drove this 2013 I could feel the rotors need turning. Damn!

My 2012 F-150 FX4 had warped front rotors at about 24,000 miles. Here in Alaska it's easy to get snow in the brakes so I just attributed it to that. And my wife sometimes drives my truck so I thought maybe that was an issue...LOL
But after reading all of these articles it seems there may be a deeper issue.
I now have 36,000 miles and I will need to turn the front and possibly rear rotors again soon because I have a very slight shudder when braking.
I can say that the local Ford dealer rotated the tires at the last LOF change and they REALLY tightened the wheel studs! Took everything I could do to brake then loose to do some other work on the truck so that may definitely be the real issue.

Took the dealer 2 work days to get mine turned. Said they had to also turn the back side. The rep was VERY apologetic, offering a ride or a rental. No thanks, I have good friends. Ended up no charge. Let's see how long this lasts. Very smooth now.

Default 2014 F-150 XLT 4x4 Ecoboost

I know this is an old post, but I'm in need of some help. I bought my 2014 F-150 brand new with less than 400 miles on it in 2015. It was a truck from Oklahoma that was transferred to Texas. Not even a month after I felt a shimmy while braking, warped rotors, along with the squealing while braking, like metal on metal. I looked at my rotors a day or so after and did not see any signs of wear and tear. Fast forward a few years and 35k miles later I had a squeal occasionally when cold start on my truck. Took it back to the dealer to check it out and it ended up being my timing chain. Apparently for Ecoboost they are on high demand and short supply. So my truck sat at the dealership for about a month waiting. They called and said that I needed a brake job very badly. Stated my front brakes were at a 4 and back at a 5 and they needed to be replaced at a 3 at worst. I told them to hold off cause I was in denial of a truck with less than 40k miles needing brakes already. I'm not a hard driver at all and I do very, very little towing of a boat. I finally got my truck back and had the tires aligned a few weeks ago and they told me that I needed to get a refund from whoever did my brake job last cause my front pads were at 60% and rear at 80%, but my front driver side rotor has really deep grooves in them, such as metal on metal. He said that they see it a lot when people get an incomplete brake job done and just have the pads replaced, but not rotors turned. I took it to another brake and muffler place for a second opinion, not knowing anything about this guy but I hear he does good work. He validated the findings. He said it's consistent with metal on metal and that the grooves are really deep and he can not say for sure if he will be able to turn them within spec. I haven't had them replaced yet cause I'm trying to do all the research prior, but this seems to be a big trend with F-150's and bad rotors off the line. I do not want to buy new pads and rotors and get the same outcome if there is another contributing factor. Basically I'm looking at doing the brake job myself, but I don't know what all to look for. Can anybody shoot me some ideas, tips, 2 cents, anything!!! I'm Desperate!!!

Ford factory brake rotors/calipers suck. You may have a sticking caliper. I replaced my rotors, calipers, and pads with better aftermarket. This truck developed a waron in the rotors at 45K miles, and they had already been turned before (I bought her used with 40K miles on it, so the previous owner must have had it done) I have used these guys product on a few vehicles. There is other stuff out there too. Just look around on google. www.breakperformance.com.
