My 2013 Platinum EcoBoost with 11,500 miles started to shudder when braking in December. They said there was a deep groove in the rotor, they cut and turned them, said they were good as new. Less than two weeks later, started happening again. I was finally able to get it back in to them last week. Rotors measured at 32mm, after they cut them again they were below spec, and finally replaced both front. She now has a little over 13,000 miles. What would cause them to warp that fast? I haven't driven in high water - I avoid it as often as I can. Someone said to check the tie rod ends??

Most common cause is some goober with an air impact, warps rotors everytime.

I would check for calipers hanging/sticking I don't care how new they are. Just my 2 cents

This is an interesting article. Might be applicable to your case. Only thing I can think of is something in terms of this article, a lump of residual pad material that might be pushing into your rotor. Have you noticed any weird sounds other than the shudder? I've heard of rocks and such debris getting stuck in calipers.

Have you had the tires changed over at tire shop? They can ruin the rotors and studs in seconds with an impact gun used improperly...

I heard/read somewhere that this a common problem. Other than driver related issues, The reasons I've heard, are because the rotors are too small for the job? That the OEM metal material isn't exactly the best? Calipers hanging up or not aligned? Last April I had my rotors replaced. Had 36,000 miles on her. I am easy on the brakes. But I tow a 14x7 custom built enclosed tandem axle trailer that carries my '12 Polaris Ranger HD. Total weight with gear, etc. is in the 3,600 lb. range. I go out to West Virginia and my property is on a mountain top. I have to be on the brakes when descending down my lanes to keep my speed down below 10mph.. The incline/declines average 9% and a few crests are 13% or more. So I attributed it to that. It wasn't until I did a little research that I discovered the issues with these rotors. On a side note, I have a '94 T'bird LX with the 4.6. I had to turn the rotors on it about once a year. I put Powerslot rotors on it and it cured that problem.

My 2011 F-150 Ecoboost came off the showroom floor with warped rotors. Took it back and they turned them to fix the problem. It only lasted 10,000 miles before vibration started up again. Can I buy new pads and rotors that last longer? I drive pretty hard. I've owned seven Fords in a row and every one gets warped rotors right away.

Hey. Sorry for starting up an old thread i just don't want to open a new one. My 2013 started shuddering too it's not much but I know how it starts. I also replaced all for shocks on the truck, now I cant think of a way they could blame warped rotors on my shocks, but could they? Also I'm assuming my rotors are under my bumper to bumper warranty right?

2011 F150 Ecoboost Lariat: I had my mechanic replace pads and rotors both front and rear with upgraded parts. It cost me $700 for everything. Truck has been braking perfectly for 8,000 miles now. All seven 150 pickups I have owned all had rotors that warp quickly.
