Yes, get a new motor from them...insist. Sounds like typical hydro-lock from the ingestion of the gunk below due to the PCV design flaw.

I'll post a pair of pistons we removed yesterday and show hydro-lock results. Bent rod and piston broken from top ring down. Could not tell from the top of the piston w/heads off, had to remove them to see the damage.

Here is a good thread on preventing all of this in the future:

Trap this from entering the CAC and intake charge and those issues go away.

I did call and talked to the Regional Manager and was told that the only thing they were going to do is a short block. I told them that I did not want to be the one to practice with and was told that it is a certified person to work on it and it did not mater at all what i think or want I want. I told her that they had nobody that has worked on this and she just kept on that he is certified. but the mechanic said to me he had never done the EB motor. I guess I will have to get rid of my truck now because I will never trust this motor to take me on a trip!!!! this is the worst feeling I love my FX4 with the FX appearance package ????

I really wanted to get the long block but was flat told no, either deal with the short block or pay the difference but ford would only do the short block. I wanted them to send the heads off to at least check them out because of all the metal in the oil.

anyone know what else I can do????

If metal was present in the oil (fine particles, not large piston pieces) then it was circulated through the entire engine and that includes the camshafts and caps, followers, etc. and a long block is needed. If it was only large pieces then most likely no damage was done to the heads and a short block is fine.

Escalate if needed and ask for help here from a cust service rep. and "certified" means little now days.

Good Luck!!

Excellent Crystal!! This is when we really appreciate you guys being here for the customers. If this was a case of metal circulating through the oil system then damage was inevitable to the upper end as well. If it was a sudden failure where there was no fine metal circulating a short-block is fine.

Glad your here.

This was A response to an email from you and one other about if it was driven after it not ran much after it started and I drove it for approximately 500 miles after it started knocking
Because the dealer said to come in 5 days later. Thanks for your help

I finally got my resolution, they only are going to put a short block in it so I got rid of the truck. I pleaded with them to put in a long block and was flat told no. I just would never feel good towing my street rod with the engine from someone that has never worked on an EB motor.
