Default 2005 Very Low Air Flow on A/C

Hello all,

New Here.

I have a 2005 F-150 Reg, Cab 4X4 (4.6L) that I recently purchased to tow my boat. 117K Miles. Yes, I wanted a reg. cab to fit in the garage!

This truck spent a lot of time in VERY dusty conditions. All with the truck is OK except I have very little airflow out of the vents on A/C. It's cold, just little flow. The functions work OK (defrost/heat/Bi level, etc.)

I have heard that the evap. cores on these can plug up with dust/crud, etc.

Any ideas on cleaning out the evap core without tearing the dash out?

By the way, the "Max" position helps but not much. I can see the door moving when I switch to max.

Thanks, in advance.

DJ

Well, I fixed it.

I cut a 1" hole in the EVAP case just to the left of the blower motor at the top of the case. That is where the EVAP core lives.

I proceeded to flush out the case with a garden hose and watched as mud ran out of the EVAP case drain. This took about 15 minutes before the drain ran clean.

I now have plenty of air flow!

I sealed up the hole using the piece I cut out and some JB Weld Quick Set.
