Default 2011 XLT Armrest latch popped out

My first post here. I'm a new owner of a 2011 Ecoboost and shortly after getting it, I put some body weight over the center armrest of the front seat and the latch for the storage compartment popped out.

Now this happened while I was driving, so I was unable to see how the spring mechanism and the latch itself actually fit into the two small holes for it to function properly. Before I break something else, does anyone know how to put this back in?

This is the type of armrest I have:

And I have attached pictures of the latch and holes.

Thanks in advance!

It looks like you broke the latch pivot off on the spring side. Removing the cover will difficult w/o breaking the plastic tabs that hold the bottom cover to the arm rest. I'm not 100% sure but you may not be able to even buy the broken part. I'd check with the dealer parts guy. They like to sell the whole cover. Is the truck still under warranty?

I'm sorry to say you have to buy the whole armrest/seatback if it's the 40/20/40 seat. I work in a Ford parts department. Hope it's still under 36/36 warranty.

Default Center console latch

I also broke the same latch with minimal trauma, like putting 15 lbs pressure on the top. Out of warranty. (Rebuilt title after rear ended) There's got to be a better fix than buying the entire console! My dad used to cuss pot metal. I cuss plastic.

I was able to fix mine by mending the broken tab with some fiberglass resin and some chopped fibers.

Then It was just a matter of holding the spring on correctly and forcing it back into place. Full tab side in first, then the slanted one (its molded this way to make it easy putting it in)

So I was able to just jam it back in gently, it just needed to be fixed and string enough to survive being put back in.

Default Same issue

had my 2012 truck only a week or so and the first time I opened the console the latch just came off. I didn't put a whole lot of pressure on it or anything so I Figured it probably was a previous issue and maybe easy to fix. Judging by the forum I think this just a manufacturing flaw by ford.

Default Got the fix

I too broke mine a couple years ago and was told by the dealer that I would need to replace the whole console.

I made a replica part out of different material and seems to holding up better.

Selling them on ebay.

If you have any other parts that need replacing message me.
