Default 2011 Rust

During a weekend clean & detail. I find some rust on the lower passenger side firewall!!! All the spot welds are almost rusted through! My question is, do I even bother the dealer with a warrantee claim? Or just fix it my self? The truck only has 52000 miles! But it has a 1.5 level which I'm sure the dealer might say was the cause!

Wouldn't hurt to take it in and see what they say.

Unfortunately we won't warranty rust unless you can put your finger through it. Ford policy. Surface rust and corrosion is not covered

That's a lot of rust for a 2011. You must live in an area with salted roads. I would scrape all the lose paint and rust away and apply Rustoleum "Rust Stop". It will penetrate all the rust still there and stop it. then if its hidden I would apply underbody spray coating. Good luck.

We'll if I read the warrantee right " correct if wrong"
It was 5 years unlimited on the rust issue. Which by 2016 might be all way through! But, I might just deal with it now, as not to have it on the vehicle history report in the future. I only keep vehicles for 5-6 years anyway. I'll just fix it & pass it along LOL!
