2011 3.5l EB First Sparkplug Change
Bought this CPO 2011 XLT Screw just about a year ago with 34K on the clock and could not be more pleased.
With 51700 miles now, noticed my fuel economy drooping from the original 18 mpg down to 17 and then 16.5 and decided it was time to follow the helpful advice here and swap out the plugs and replace the air filter this morning. The plugs came out with plenty of squeaking, so they are probably original.
The video I found was helpful and the whole procedure took about an hour.
Here is what the old plugs looked like, and as many of you have reported, the plugs looked worn and the gaps were all over the map, from .035-.045.
They were also pretty sooted up, so maybe the 15000 mile old air filter may have been causing a rich mixture ?
Took her for a spin, and power seems better and the fuel economy on this 15 mile test returned to 20.5 in a mix of highway and rural roads.
Thanks for the good vibes found here and best regards.
