2007 f150 power steering pump
I replaced my power steering pump
no the sterring is good and bad at times it is hard to turn the wheel it is usually hard to turn when at idle
what can cause this

You might just have some air in the lines and need to flush/bleed the system again to get it out. If you didn't replace it when you replaced the pump, you may wish to put a new power steering filter on as well to prevent contaminates from messing up that shiny new pump.

Sorry about that, my F150 is one of the newer ones with the fully electric steering so I couldn't use that for reference, but my older cars have been BMWs with hydraulic p/s and they have always had a filter. When I looked at AutoZone for a 2007 F150, p/s filters were listed, so I assumed they were normal equipment; however, it appears that they are just a common aftermarket modification.

Did the problem precede the pump swap? If so, I found an earlier thread that had similar issues on 07's. They found that lubrication of the joints on the steering shaft can alleviate the problem: http://www.f150online.com/forums/other-powertrain/404391-possible-power-steering-issues-2.html one of the post has a link to a diagram of the shafts needing lubrication.
