2007 5.4 synthetic oil
I had my cam phaser fail on me couple months ago and the guy at ford told me synthetic was bad for the 5.4 and contributed to the damage.
Does anyone here have a 5.4 and run full or semi syn?

Nonsense....the failure of the system had nothing to do with the use of synthetic oil. If anything, synthetics have superior shear stability and lubricity compared to natural base stock oils.Perhaps the Ford guy was trying to weasel off the hook for Ford when a failure of that magnitude occurred. Something in the system was faulty.
