2007 4.2 F150 died while driving and wont start
2007 F150 4.2L 104K miles
Driving home last night everything running good. Slowed down to cross railroad tracks, hit the gas and started sputtering. Made it about 100 yards further, pulled onto grass and it shutdown. It would turn over and act like it wanted to start but would run really rough for a couple of seconds and shutdown. Check engine light was flashing which means misfire. Towed it home. This morning it will turn over but not fire at all. I checked the fuel shutoff switch by the fuse panel and I felt it click when I pushed it. Still wont start. It was at 1/4 tank of fuel and I put 5 more gallons in to make sure just in case. I am thinking fuel pump control module. Haven't read the codes yet. Had to go back to work today. Thoughts?

Put a scanner on it and check fuel pressure. If it's good, you might not be getting a spark. Since the scanner is on it you can check codes, too.

Update: Fuel pressure sensor went bad 1 week later
One week after new fuel pump, fuel pressure sensor went bad. I made it to the shop with it sputtering. New sensor and it runs like a champ now.
