Im sure you have it fixed by now I just read it all, just my .02 when the alternator goes out you only have as long as how far the battery will take you ... when the battery starts getting to low to fire off the cylinders then you will be in what would feel like a rodeo for a min till the last of the juice is up. then it would in that case be the alternator not keeping the charge on the battery
