2005 F150 4x4 front end rubbing sound
I have a 2005 F150 XLT 4x4 and it is making a rubbing grinding sound.
I dont think it is the IWE issue because it does it aswell in 4x4.
The sound is not constant, but more like every half second it happens, then goes away then happens again. Kind of like Hum, hum, hum, hum, hum
It does accelerate with the speed of the truck and does it just as much driving straight as during a turn. During a slow tight turn (like doing a 3 point turn/ U-ey in a residential neighbourhood), I can also hear occasionally dings/pops sort of thing.
It also does it going forward just as much as in reverse.
I visually checked the steering/suspension components and I dont see any torn boots or broken looking parts. I dont think there is any play in the components either. I havent had the chance to lift the truck and spin the tires yet but an initial thought on your part would be great.
Bearings? Axle?
Suggestions appreciated, thanks!
