My muffler heat shield was rattling around after rotting off where it was bolted to the frame, so I removed it. It is located under the bed and there is a decent air space above it so I'm hoping this is ok to do. Elsewhere on this forum someone said it would be ok.

Also noticed some rust. A buddy told me to spray used motor oil on the underside of my truck. Also heard there is a place in NH that does something similar with brake fluid. Anyone have an opinion on this? Sounds like a good idea to me to inhibit the rust but what do other people do?

Never heard of this...not saying it will not work. they do make spray cans of rust inhibitor that I know work very well. Loctite makes some sold at Home Depot..used it on my red drive shaft 4 years ago...still black as the day I sprayed it.
