Default 2004 F150 Coil Issue

I just hit 200K miles on my 2004 FX4. I changed all 8 spark plugs today. This is the 4th time I have done sooo, once every 50K miles. When I started the truck it is misfiring and idling very low. When I put the transmission in R or D, it wants to shut off but it doesn't. I have double checked all connections, etc.

I plugged in my code reader (there is no warning light on the truck as of now). It brought but the following codes:

P0351 (ignition coil A)
P0353 (C malfunction)
P0354 (D)
P0355 (E)
P0356 (F)
P0357 (G)

Any ideas of what the issue is? Thank you in advance.

"Ignition Coil harness is open or shorted" - probably intermittently, on cylinders 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

On an '04, you probably have the same problem I have with mine (same model). The plastic latch on the COP wire harness breaks off. Then the rubber "grommet" in the connector - intended to keep water out - pushes the plug back up Almost off. It is just sitting there where any vibration causes it to loose contact. I've had to replace almost ALL of mine - at approx. $25.00 each !!!! Ouch!

Make sure each COP plug is pressed on and seated good.

with 200K miles on your truck...it’s time for COP’s ...no mention of ever replacing them..

In fact I have replaced coils, but I was actually talking about the plastic connector that plugs ONTO the coils. The clips were brittle and braking off. I tried wire ties, duct tape, and on one instance broke a branch off an oak tree and wedged it between the A/C evaporator housing and #3 COP to hold the damn coil plug in place to make it home without it missing!!! I'd plug them on and they would "pop" right back up!

While I have replaced my COPs - I am not a big advocate of replacing them unless there's visible damage or a crack in one. There is NOTHING in a COP but an iron core and two coils of wire. Not a damn thing that wears, melts, deteriorates, or changes characteristics over time or with age/mileage - (with the exception of the boots). I do advocate replacing boots. IMO, cleaning, wiping ALL oily film and moisture off, stretching the spring, replacing the boot, and reinstalling with dielectric grease is every bit as effective as putting on a new COP - and a lot less expensive.
