Hi

My new to my F150 Lightning 2001 model came with only 1 key and fob. As I live in Glasgow UK its not easy to get into a dealer to replace them as they have no clue in Ford dealers here about them.

1st question is are the keys chipped or just regular keys? was hoping I could get a spare key at least but its no use if the car wort recognise it.

2nd does anyone know the current price of an alarm fob and the process to get on to match my car? If its done on chassis number maybe I get get a pal in the US to sort it out for me.

I have a 98...the key is not chipped...maybe someone with a 01 can chime in....

I do know you can get the fob new on eBay for good prices.....There is a sequence of steps that you do to program the fob to the truck....very easy but dont recall the steps off hand....seach this site or Google........"programming key fob"

I have had a look on ebay and there are ones that say they are comparable with the 2001 Lightning so looks like I may have a result..

I purchased a set of door lock FOBs on line for $15 each. They came with instructions on how to program them to fit your truck. It took me 10 minutes. Keys with chips are another thing. My 2000 F-150 had 1 chipped key. I took mine to Lowe's Home center and they made me a key and programed it for $75. You have to physically have your old key with you to make another one. Don't let a dealer tell you they have to reset the RAP unit on your truck. It isn't necessary of you have one good key.
