2001 F150 Front-to-Rear Brake Line Details
I just had the front-to-rear brake line on my 2001 F150 rust out. I figured I would post information on this fix that should be useful to anyone else who needs to make such a repair.
The front and rear fittings do NOT match. The rear which connects to the rear/center hose is 3/16" inverted/double flare. The front (under the driver's feet) is M12-1.0 bubble flare (see picture).
Overall length of the line is (conveniently) 84". I rebuilt mine using a 72" line and a 12" line which are commonly available, along with a union and an inverted to bubble adapter. Another option if you have the tool is to buy bulk line and do the flares yourself like some here recommend.
If using 72" and 12" replacement lines like I did, put the union between the two on the front end so that it is not in a bend or one of the plastic retainer clips.
