Default 2000 f150 rear brake lock up

My 2000 f150's rear brakes are locking up and I'm not sure why. I have replaced the brake fluid on both rear brakes and they are still locking up. Not sure what to do. I appreciate the help.

Several things come to mind. 1- 60 % of your braking is done with the front brakes. If the rears are locking up it could be the fronts aren't working properly. 2- the is a proportioning valve in the line to the rear brakes that helps set the balance of pressure in the front to rear ratio. This valve maybe stuck or bad. 3- try bleeding the front brakes. If you have air in the system, all the braking will be done by the rear. 4 if the master cylinder piston has an internal seal that has failed, the majority of the pressure could go to the rear brakes.5- if you have rear disc brakes you may have a stuck brake caliper. Good luck

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem. New rear rotors and pads, caliper rebuild kit. When the caliper is off, the pads move freely in the caliper and the caliper moves freely on the guide pins. The piston appears to move in and out of the caliper body without sticking. It doesn't happen all the time when I'm driving, but it always happens to only the rear passenger side. I just went for a 10 mile ride and the rear right was smoking and smelled like brake fluid when i stopped. On the return trip, it was still a bit stuck but not as bad. Brakes work fine and I don't really notice the brake dragging when I go down the road. Any ideas? Thanks.

You may need to replace the brake hose. The rubber can delaminate inside and collapse even though the outside looks fine. Just like a check valve, brake fluid can flow through to the caliper, but not out.

My Dad's 2001 was dragging the front brakes on one side. It was the brake hose. Super easy to fix.

I finally got around to tackling this job and guess what? The rear brake hose is no longer available! Ford has deemed this an obsolete part. NAPA has a hose that is close but you'll need to grind off part of the block that meets the caliper to make it fit. NAPA part #381062. The Ford part # is 3L3Z2267AA and was a combo hose / brake line.

This part looks like it would fit - but haven't ordered one. Saw it on eBay Brake Hydraulic Hose Rear Right Dorman H621211.
