Default 2 Broken coil springs???

I just order my Bilstein 5100's and I went out side to check something and noticed that both my coils are broke. So anyone have any suggestions on new ones. Should I replace with oem or aftermarket?? And does anyone know the coil code for a 05 FX4??

I am out of warranty but do you think they will still cover them? Everyone I talked to said that its rare if at all possible!!! My cousin got me replacements oem cheap. He's a manager at Macco and got them at cost but if Ford will cover them, I'll try that route.

A service manager is gonna look at your truck and decide right away how you treat it. If it is a pile of _____ no chance. If it is clean, stock, a typical off to work truck I'd say try. It's obvious to me the springs broke due to fatique at the weld area from heat treat. Good luck. You know if you drove it down the railroad track for 60 miles.

I hear ya. I never even off roaded. All I do is tow a boat with it. I hope they will cover it. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for all the opinions.

"UPDATE" I talked to corporate today and they pretty much said I'm SOL. they said have the new coils instaled and keep the reciept in case of a recall in the future I would be reimbursed. I told them, no thanks. I'm not paying close to $400, I'll do it myself. And I told them there prices for repairs are rediculous but whatever. So my coils came in today, now just waiting on the Bilsteins to arrive so I can assemble and install them. Pictures to follow when complete. Thanks for all the opinions and help.

There's no weld there, they broke at the seat, which is far from uncommon on these trucks. Unlike the Taurus/Contour spring issues, the spring breaks aren't going to cause a safety issue, as there's no way for the spring to cut down the tire, so I doubt there will be a recall.
