1997 F150 - Driver's Side Mirror Install Advice?
I just purchased an OEM replacement driver's side mirror for my 1997 Ford F150. The existing mirror has been damaged, causing the mirror to pop out of the frame. It's also suffered more than a fair amount of wear and tear, so I've decided to replace the entire assembly.
Long story short: It looks like I need to remove the door panel and/or disassemble the door itself to get the new mirror assembly installed. Has anyone done this before? Any advice on how to do it myself?
I've contemplated taking this into a local dealer/repair shop and have them do it, but would rather save the money if I could.
Any suggestions?

My memory is a bit fuzzy but I remember the dealer removing the door panels & the plastic triangle inside by the window to get at the backside of the mirror for the bolts. Should be a pretty easy job to do yourself...(I was lazy) The wires were in the door area & unplugged.

Mirror repaired
Just an update: I finally had the Ford dealer install it for me. Works like new, and I'm guessing going with a third-party part supplier saved me $50 or so.
