If it has a limited slip rear diff without or with to much friction modifiers it will jump and vibrate during turn or if you spin the tires on ice or gravel. There can be a growling or grinding noise along with the vibration. Easy way to check if you have a limited slip is to raise one side of the rear and try to spin the tire with the engine off and in neutral. If the tire spins easy then you do not have a limited slip or positrack in the diff.

I have no clue, and Ford wants $79 just to hook a gauge up to it and test the oil pressure. Any advice? Also, where does the needle usually sit for the oil pressure on the 5.0s? Ive owned 2 of them and both have read on the N in normal (which I thought was low) but Im not sure. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Hey man i had the same problem. i bought my truck a used dealership and it was fine for awhile then in the mornings the oil pressure gauge would drop and come up it did maybe 3 tiems a day. the problem was the sending unit its cheap but if you take it to get down its close to 90 dollars and all its does is screw into the block. as long as when you pressure gauge starts doing what your saying but you dont hear no knocking or anything and the truck feels like its driving fine i would go ahead and replace the sending unit but its your call

This really sounds like a worn out set of clutches in a limited slip differential. Is this one of the options identified in the VIN, I don't know about the codes on a 95, I suppose I had better learn as I have a 95. Once again if you can afford it take the truck to a competent frame an axle shop to have it checked. This is the short of thing that if it lets loose at highway speeds can get you killed.

Worn out limited slip clutches just allows the rear axle to act as an open rear end. If the clutches are binding they will cause handling problems on slick surfaces mainly the truck will push through corners and the rear end will shake and hop more in corners. If the rear end locks solid it could break an axle during a tight corner on pavement though this will cause quite a jolt and a big bang.

Everyone is talking about "Bangs" and "death". I am sure it isnt that major.

It does sound like something is wrong with your differential if the vibration stops when you head straight. I would check it thouroughly.

On a lighter note. Looks like somebody put vaseline in the differential instead of heavy weight oil. Maybe there is a bum hiding in there and he is pissed off. Either way you're in a tough spot. sorry man

Default Regarding LOW OIL Pressure

Talk about hijacking the mans thread!!!

Regarding the initial question about oil pressure----

My truck did the same---pressure dropped to zero; then back to normal; then back to zero; did this almost constantly. I stopped and checked the oil & it was full. I checked the temp and it was normal. Since I was within 9 miles of home, and since all else seemed OK, I thought I could get it home safely.. ..WRONG... About a mile from home, I detected a slight engine knock; by the time I pulled into the driveway, it was knocking loudly.....bad oil pump & ruined engine!!!!
