2016 -- Replacing Cylinder Heads
I have a 2016 2.7L V6 with 12,000 miles on it. My truck started blowing white smoke out of the exhaust after long idles and after a cold start. It would subside after a few minutes of drive time. I took it to the dealer and they have diagnosed that I need the cylinder heads replaced. 22 hours worth of labor. It is all, of course, covered under the warranty, but I'm concerned that an engine repair like this is required at such an early life stage of the engine. I wanted to get some thoughts from the forum on any experience with this or any concerns I should have about the engine in general with such an early repair of this type.

I have a 2016 also, guessing you have the 2.7 Ecoboost also. Mine at 9500 miles started to misfire. Took the truck into dealership and there a TSB for 16 f150. Long story short, replaced both heads, got truck back and seems to be running good. I am worried also, have you been in contact with Ford customer care, I am requesting an extended warranty due to engine problems. I had smoke coming out of my exhaust when would first start my vehicle when it was warm weather for a few minutes and the motor seem to have a studder/hesitation when I stopped at a red light. Did you experience similar issues? Mine was diagnosed as having a burnt valve, causing a lean condition, causing it to burn the tip off one of my spark plugs.

usually symptoms like that are related to turbo seals.
long idle time allows oil to seep past the turbo seals (if they're failing), resulting in the 'white' smoke.
Before we go further though, let me ask you, did the smoke dissipate/dissolve, or did it linger? That lets me know the difference between oil smoke and coolant smoke (steam).

There is a "TSB" concerning this problem and it discussed at length in several threads on this forum. Long story short get the work done and drive. Don't worry be happy.

Why be concerned? You’re getting new heads. The old ones had 12k on them! The heads are 12k ahead of the rest of the motor! I wouldn’t worry about asking for more warranty, I’m not sure why you would or should get more warranty because of this?
