Default 1982 f-150 need advise

Im working on my 82 xlt lariot...it has been lowered 6 inches...it now has a step side bed on it...302 ci...msd....c6 tranny....griffen radiator...demon carb...etc....

I recently replaced the gas tank and sending unit...thanks to autozone ($180).. I put in around 12 gallons of gas and the fuel guage moves..but only a little bit,,not even past the empty mark....there is no air in the gas line...i did replace the rubber fuel lines also. I pulled the dash apart today...fiddled around with the guage and it still only moves a few centimeters.....i also made sure all the fuses in the fuse box were good....

Any advise would be really helpfull.....i dont believe it is a ground...

Also...i dont know if this truck origionally had 2 tanks....i have 1 tank...side mounted...mid stream

Could be a bad unit. Check the cab for a switch that changes the tanks. Either way something isnt hooked up correctly. Was it working before?

Truck was sittn for 3 years.....i just bought it a few weeks ago...and have been doing a ton of work to it......anyway,it was not working with the old gas tank in it....i replaced the tank brand new..and also the sending unit..

Where would the tank switch be...under the truck or in the cab??

I have only 1 tank on it..dont know if there was 2 at one time

im thinking its the guage its self.....

If it had 2 tanks the switch should be under the driver seat towards the front. That's where the valve/switch used to be. In the old one anyway, the newer body was a switch on the dash. I still say its the sender. Pull it out and move the arm and watch the gauge. If its still not working double check all connections from sender to gauge. I'd pray it's not the gauge cause its gunna be pricey. You can use an ohm meter on the gauge and check it that way you can also jump a power wire from a 9v battery on the terminal and if it moves then you should be good there.

The arm on the sender moves along a potentiometer which varies the voltage to the gauge from 0-12 volts to show how much fuel is in the tank being its a new sender that rules out corrosion on the potentiometer.

Sounds pretty logical...i will pull the sender...and go from there....

WILL TRY AND POST PICS OF THE TRUCK TOMORROW. I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT MY FRAME SLAMMING INTO THE REAR....DONT WANT TO CUT THE FRAME (C-NOTCH)...PROBABLY INSTALL BUMP STOPS ON THE FRAME...THE HOLES ARE ALREADY THERE..

THIS WAS A PROJECT TRUCK THAT I BOUGHT AND AM FINISHING MYSELF

Thanks seth
