Default '11 coyote 5.0 coolant over heating

I have a 2011 f150 5.0. I changed my thermostat recently after temperatures running very low and having no heat. Now my temperatures will rage up to 222 if I don't have my heat blasting..
Should I assume the thermostat I put in is bad?!
What's normal operating temperature for these motors?
Any help or pics would help.
I'm using a sct x4 tuner with mpt tunes to monitor everything.

Sounds borderline hot, especially in winter. Did you check the stat for proper opening in boiling water before you installed?

Thermostats just speed up warming. They should not have any effect on operating temp. If it restricts coolant flow due to not opening fully you could run hot. I would pull/check/replace it.
