Default 100,000 plus engine maintenance

Hello, my 2001 F-150 5.4 XLT 4x4 has 115,000 miles on it now. I have done nothing but oil changes and replaced 3 burnt out coil packs. Opinions about changing the plugs or any other item at this point. Also still has factory exhaust and convertors. Seems to still run fine and strong, just wondering. Thanks.

You never changed the fuel filter ever?

I would change

*Plugs - Make sure there Motorcraft and gapped correctly I also put a tiny bit of Anti Seize on the threads with dielectric grease on the coils before installing them.
*Fuel Filter
*PCV Valve
*Belt - I like the GoodYear GatorBack
*Tranny Filter & Fluid
*Front 02 Sensors
*Clean MAF Sensor
*Rearend Fluid
*Coolant & T-Stat

My Ranger ran perfect but at 100K I did those things listed above and it was a great improvement. Ran Smoother, Quieter, & Picked Up 2.5MPG!

I have an '02 5.4 with 150k miles. I finally got tired of the coils and ordered new accel coils, champion plugs, pvc valve, O2 sensors and new cats because my last coil sputtering problem I believed caused one of my cats to burn out as I could smell it one day on a very short drive. Also cleaned mass air flow sensor and took off and inspected and cleaned intake port. Sold my cats to place in Dallas that buys them to get platinum out, they gave me two hundred bucks! Runs damn good now, slight noticeable increase in mpg too. Did not do anything to fuel jets.

Sorry if it was over your head. That's what I get for trying to use cool sounding layman terms I guess. By saying "Fuel jets" I was referring to Fuel Injectors. As in cleaning them to insure a good spray pattern or "jet" as you will. In case you were also wondering, the term "Cats" I was referencing Catalytic Converters.

Was just poking a little friendly fun at ya. Us old geezers have trouble shaking off memories of drilling out the "jets" in our Holleys or Edelbrocks, and burned out "cats" would have been old 'fuzz' or "COPS" of about our present age. "Variable valve timing" (if it was working right) was supposed to cause my engine to lope or idle rough!! Hell, you can imagine how much trouble we have grasping the concept that "Closed Loop" ain't an oval quarter mile track. Now we are expected to get ECU, CPS, MIL, DTC's, O2's, Lambda, and NOx, none of which I had to think about to get my first car to do a 94mph quarter mile in 18 seconds.

Please, cut us a little slack - we're coming along pretty good.

No problem, I'm 50 and old school so I can relate. I remember when 1/4 mile was it. 1/8 mile is for Wussy's. But I road race now, its easier on the car and last longer than 11 or 12 seconds.

How much does that stuff cost? And is any of it super advanced? My '01 could probably use that stuff it being at 144000. Been taken care of pretty well but if I can improve a mpg or two I'm pretty happy. Thanks

Edit: I already know about the plugs, tranny stuff, rear end and belt. With the tranny flush and filter change though, I've heard that can be bad at higher mileage. I've heard of trannys going out after people did that, I guess because the old tranny fluid has set in over time and new fluid would be harsh on it because the parts have become sensitive and weaker
